Léon Blanchette’s goal was to build a superior quality golf course, for all ranges of golfers at a competitive price. In June of 1994, Nation Golf Course opened its doors to an eagerly awaiting group of golfers. Everyone was pleasantly surprised. The results were astounding. No one was happier than the founder himself and his hard working crew.
The business soared and by the late 90’s it gained distinction among the most popular golf courses in the Capital region. Integrity being one of the Blanchette family’s virtues, many of the business’ revenues was reinvested back into the property to keep the course at its highly achieved standard. A paved parking lot and pathways with additional sand traps were first on the improvements’ list. Léon retired at the beginning of the millennium and his son Claude took over as CEO and General Manager.
Over the years we have been innovative in our thinking. We have often been the first to bring out new ways to promote the sport of golf and keep the region’s golfer excited about the game. In the late 90’s, we introduced the 20 game packs where golfers could save and not necessarily splurge on a full membership. In 2016, our philosophy was simplified pricing. We offered a simplified rate schedule. Each individual rate was available at the same price, 7 days a week. No more weekend and holiday restrictions.
